Australia today said that it is taking steps to
declare Boko Haram as a terrorist organisation. The militant group is
responsible for kidnapping nearly 200 school girls in Nigeria last
month.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abott was quoted as
saying by a news agency that in taking such a step, Australia would be acting
consistently with international partners, the US, UK, Canada and Nigeria.
Opposition Labour party leader Bill Shorten also supported
the move.
