Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has underscored the need for joint initiatives between Bangladesh and Myanmar to stop human trafficking as well as arms and drugs smuggling.

The Prime Minister made the remarks when a six-member delegation of Myanmar Navy led by its Chief Admiral Thura Thet met her in Dhaka last night.

Briefing reporters, the PM's Special Assistant, Hoque Shakil said, the PM had reaffirmed that her government would not allow the soil of Bangladesh to be used for activities that are harmful to neighbouring countries. 

Sheikh Hasina also said that many problems of border security and international terrorism can be solved through exchange of experience and data among the countries of the region, which in turn, can boost trade and harmonious development of the region.
