Bangladesh has signed
four military agreements with China to enhance its military capabilities. The
agreements were signed yesterday in Dhaka in the presence of visiting General Xu
Qiliang, the Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist
Party of China. Under the agreements, China would provide military support and
training to military personnel.
They would also set up a language laboratory at the
Bangladesh University of Professionals run by the Bangladesh armed forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate, before signing
the agreement, the visiting Chinese team met senior military officials. China
is the largest arms supplier to Bangladesh during the last five years, said the
Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka, while talking to reporters today.
