Four-time 'World Player of the Year' Lionel Messi
has agreed to sign a new
contract with Spanish
giant Barcelona making him the best paid player in the world.
The deal is
expected to see Messi overtake Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo as the biggest
earner in world football. Ronaldo signed a new five-year deal with Madrid in
September worth 17 million euros a year.
Barcelona daily 'Sport' reported that Messi will
earn 20 million euros net per year with an extra five million euros on offer in
the form of bonuses for titles, goals and appearances. Messi has become a
legend at Barcelona since his debut in 2004 scoring 354 goals in 424 games,
making him the club's all-time leading goalscorer.
